We were not successful in gaining an early access lottery permit for Glacier National Park, which is disappointing. The results were released on 17 March per Recreation.gov but I did not receive an email until 18 March letting us know of the results; in fact, the way I found out was by logging into my account on Recreation.gov and navigating to “My Reservations” and then to the “Lotteries” tab, which is where I saw the “Unsuccessful” label tagged to the Glacier lottery. We will find out about Yellowstone on 25 March, but we are not super optimistic on that front.
The next option for obtaining a reservation is by utilizing the General Public reservation timeline which I believe is 1 May. After that we would be forced to use the ranger station walkup method, which I have been told by the folks at East Glacier’s Looking Glass Base Camp, is a relatively reliable method (hope restored slightly).
Ultimately if we are unsuccessful with obtaining early access lottery tickets to both Glacier and Yellowstone, we will have spent $40 for nothing, outside of supporting our National Parks (fine I suppose).
